25th & 8th Ave [NE Corner] (April 2013)
The neighborhood around 8th Avenue, from 23rd Street to 42nd Street, has always been a little seedy. I once saw a homeless man standing in the middle of the sidewalk at this Chelsea corner with his pants down sporting a huge erect penis...in broad daylight! CLICK TO ENLARGE

This corner store very recently reopened as a pretty excellent 24/7 grocery, with smoothies, juice bar, full deli, fresh fruits and veggies, and a really extensive dry goods area. Pretty excellent for the neighborhood. The seediness and publicly erect penises are slowly being pushed north.
